At one time, the Pacific Association had only four teams, and three of
the four teams (as well as the league itself) had logos that looked
basically like this one: A circle with the city name written in it, the
nickname written across the circle, and either the top or bottom half of
the logo showing a baseball (or both halves, for the league) while
something vaguely representative of the nickname was in the other half.
Today the Pacifics are the only team that has such a logo (although the
league also still does), since the other two teams have folded and been
replaced with other teams that designed different logos. But I still
can't look at this logo without thinking about those days when the logos
were all so monotonous. Part of me really wishes they'd change it just
to quit reminding me.
Then again, this is not exactly a big budget league. Of all the
stadiums in the league, the biggest seats a mere 1,400 spectators.
That's lower than the average attendance in the Florida State League,
and remember that the only reason the Florida State League even exists
is because some Major League Baseball teams figure they may as well get
some use out of their spring training facilities after the actual season
begins. So I can understand why the logos aren't exactly the fanciest
in the world.
Unfortunately that doesn't leave me much to write about.
So this is going to be a short review.
