I've been giving you my opinion for years; now it's your turn.

While we wait for the baseball season to start, we're going to hold a series of polls to determine what the readers of Bush League Factor feel is the best logo in minor league hockey. The process is simple. Below you will see several brackets. Roughly once a week, I will be posting a request for people to vote on several pairs of logos.

To send in your vote, do the following:

  1. Send an e-mail to the standard address for the site. (See the bottom of the main page for this address.)

  2. Begin the subject with the word "VOTE".

  3. Each week I will post a numeric code which I am using to sort the messages. That will be in the subject after the word "VOTE" and before a colon.

  4. In the list of teams to be voted upon, each team has a number next to it. In order, put the number for each team you are voting for.

  5. Put whatever you want in the text of the e-mail. Truth be told, I probably won't even be looking at it.

That's a little confusing, so here's an example. Let's say the teams to be voted upon are the (1) Minnesota Wild versus the (2) Atlanta Thrashers and the (3) Dallas Stars versus the (4) Pittsburgh Penguins. (No, we're not going to vote on NHL teams. This is just an example.) Also, let's say that your prefer the Wild's logo over the Thrashers' and the Penguins' over the Stars'. Finally, let's say that I give this vote the code 5659. In this case, the subject of your e-mail should be the following:

VOTE 5659: 14

That's all there is to it. Then after the deadline passes, I will tabulate the votes, and update the brackets.

Obviously, I can't control the criteria you use in voting, but I would ask you to keep the following in mind:

  1. The point of this is to find the best/most popular logo, not the best/most popular team.

  2. The point of this is to find the best/most popular logo, not the best/most popular name.

  3. It is likely that at some point you will be faced with a choice between a logo that you think is technically better versus one you personally like more. I am deliberately refraining from telling you what to do in this situation.

  4. It is also likely that at some point you will be faced with a choice between a logo you like more/think is better versus a logo that you think is more appropriate for the team's name. Again, I am deliberately refraining from telling you what to do in this situation.

The full brackets can be found on their own page.
