This is where it all began. Not only was the hockey section the first section of the Bush League Factor, but hockey is the first sport I watched. Indeed, some of my earliest memories are of watching hockey in the old Eastern Hockey League back in the 70s. Okay, that's not quite true: some of my earliest memories were watching fights during hockey games in the old Eastern Hockey League. Memories of actual hockey have to wait until a few years later when I lived in Washington, D.C. and was watching the Capitals. Some people would argue that the Capitals in the 70s didn't exactly qualify as hockey, either, but I would remind these naysayers that there was always another team on the ice.

So this part of the site debuted on 2003 January 1. The fact that I was able to put up a website on the morning of 2003 January 1 probably means that I had a fairly boring time of it the night of 2002 December 31, but oh well. This section was joined by the "Other" section in 2006 December, and by the "Baseball" section in 2009 April. That being said, this section is not finished. New reviews will continue to be added as new teams form and old teams change logos.

This section covers the following leagues:

  • AHL — American Hockey League (Tier I)
  • ECHL — ECHL (formerly East Coast Hockey League) (Tier II)
  • SPHL — Southern Professional Hockey League (Tier III)
There are a couple of other minor leagues for hockey, of course, but none have yet demonstrated sufficient stability for me to consider it worth my time to review their teams. If any of these leagues get their act together, I'll be adding them as well.
