NOTE: This review draws heavily from the review posted for the previous Guerreros de Oaxaca logo in 2011

Oh, you've got to be kidding me! A name like "Guerreros de Oaxaca" (Oaxaca Warriors), and this is the best they can do?

There are so many things you can do with a name like this. Given the team's location, they could go with a warrior drawn in a Zapotec or Mixtec art style. Or they could go with a Zapotec or Mixtec warrior drawn in a more realistic style. Or they could put a conquistador in the logo. If they didn't want to go historical, they could have a modern soldier.

And all that assumes they want to put an actual person in the logo. If they don't, there are still plenty of ways to represent "warrior". A sword. A spear. A gun. A tank. Or they could show armor: a conquistador's helmet or a Zapotec/Mixtec shield shield.

In short, there are so many ways to represent "warrior" that I can't keep track of them all. So what does the team do? It picks a logo which is nothing but the team's name in front of a baseball diamond. This sort of thing is understandable for a team that has an abstract name, but this is not an abstract name. There is no excuse here.

So why did the team do this? All I can figure is that they didn't want to use any kind of violent imagery in the logo. But this makes absolutely no sense, given what violent imagery they have in their name. If they want to avoid violent imagery, they should change their name.

And if that wasn't the reason they made a logo like this? In that case I simply can't imagine what they were thinking. But whatever they were thinking, they need to think again.

Final Score: 47 points.
Penalties: Script, 7 pts; Diamond, 16 pts; Letter, 24 pts.
Bonuses: None.
